EKKO- A Wave Therapeutic Device

EKKO-Wave Therapeutic Deviceprovides a new solution for cognitive rehabilitation using vibrational waves.

EKKO is a portable device which uses non-invasive vibrational waves to treat neurological disorders based on Neurotransmission Cognitive Theory. Vibrational waves have been found to be effective in the fast recovery of muscles because of their resonance with the natural frequencies of the muscle fibers and are already used in the medical industry.

A complete product from research to development EKKO is now available in two versions: EKKO Portable (for use at homes) and EKKO Clinic (for specific use at hospitals/ healthcare clinics).

The product includes two modules:

Vibration wave therapy device: The device is based on neurotransmission cognitive theory, is portable, produces customizable vibration frequencies, and operates in both manual and intelligent software modes for personalized rehabilitation.

Intelligent assistant software with cloud services: The software integrates data from surveys, clinical results, feedback, and trend analysis into a knowledge-based decision support system for patient self-rehabilitation. This product can be used at home by parents of special children and at special education centers for rehabilitation of special children.

PRIMARY GOAL

EKKO aims to make disabled children and those with treatable neural disorders, such as speech and movement disorders, a respected member of society by providing a rehabilitation method that is simple, accessible and has no side effects.

BACKGROUND

Rehabilitation is the action of restoring someone to healthy and normal life through training and therapy after some illness so that he/she may attain a useful and constructive place in society. Many diseases affect children in the modern day in their childhood and some at birth. These diseases include behavioral, neural, and physical disorders. Some of the prominent disorders include Sensory Dysfunction Disorder (SDD), Stereotypic Movement Disorder (SMD), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Muscle Atrophy/Local Atrophy, Tongue Neuropathy, Squint (strabismus), Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and Dysarthria.

STATISTICS OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS

Neurological disorders are most common among children. They have affected over 1 billion people worldwide with 20 million people affected in Pakistan leading to 12% deaths worldwide. globally, 1/323 children suffer from Cerebral Palsy making a total of 18 million people, 1/68 children suffer from Autism Spectrum Disorder making a total of around 75 million people, 1/25 children suffers from Stereotypic Movement Disorder, and 1/36 children suffers from Squint.

NEUROTRANSMISSION COGNITIVE THEORY

Decades of work has been poured into cognitive rehabilitation and a number of different therapies and medications are available in the market for their treatment. The use of vibrational waves has been neglected entirely in this area. Existing therapy devices uses vibrations waves but only for physical rehabilitation. There is no single device in the market that targets cognitive rehabilitation.

The market is ripe for an innovative and accessible solution. What makes EKKO unique is Neurotransmission cognitive theory developed by Dr. Shahbaz Khalid Ranjha with following features:

  • Brain Death: A shock experienced by the brain could not always be elaborated as a brain death.
  • Alive Brain Cells: The affected brain cells may stay alive with reduced blood supply.
  • Mal Cognitive Maps: Mal/ defective cognitive maps can be developed through neurons lying ineffective.
  • Reactivation of Maps: At preliminary stage, natural pathways can be reactivated through vibration waves gadgets.
  • Vibrational Waves: Simple mechanical vibrational waves are the source of stimulation.
